I use triple 7 ffg and fffg. I have pored a 130 gn load into a measure as best as can. Then I weighed it and it came out to 112 gn by weight. Then I weigh each load at home and fill about 10 to 12 vials with carefully weighed out. This is extremely accurate. I ran my LabRadar and they were with in 10 to 20 FPS. What more could you want. If I need real knock down power I use 4 T7 pellets behind a Remington AccuTip in my UML with a T-Rex muzzle break by LS customs. I get 3" groups at 300 yds usually if I am in the mood. I really would never spend $160 a pound for it. I am a gun dealer and can get all I want of it for $72 for a 8oz can and that is ridicules in my opinion when I can buy 777 by the pound or pellets for $32. I clean my gun after I shoot it always so I do not care if it is cleaner. Supply and demand if people stopped buying it out when ever they see it it will be priced as it is. When they shrank the can to 8 oz that was like kicking us in the nuts. But it did not stop sales. I can and do go out and shoot a full pound of 777 at the range sometimes and do not even think about it. I have bought RS and custom and am going to try that as well to see how that works in my rifle. Shooting sabots I will never wear out the barrel but even if I do I will just replace it with my spare I bought 3 years ago new for $100. IMHO For less than $300 LS customs will thread and install a T-Rex muzzle break on your rifle if you can remove the barrel. Just a little more if you send him the whole gun. I one most improvement you can do to you gun is a muzzle break. If its a ML or just a rifle when your gun kicks as they do in the big rifle category. I have never used Black powder (old school) and never will.

I am noy trying to start a war of words about the best powder. Maybe BH 209 is better its just how much better. Its 3 times as expensive and I feel not worth that much. If you just shoot 10 rounds a year hunting, it maybe fine but then it will take years to use it all up and I am not sure it does not get old. I shoot a lot and BH is not worth the little more accurate it may be or it cleans easier who cares cleaning a gun is part of shooting. I have shot 50 BMG in competition at 1000 yards at a regional shoot. I used factory loaded match grade ammo against every one else who spent hours making their ammo. I took 4th place! 8.25" or less 25 shots each day time's two days for 50 rounds. Who knows maybe I would have shoot 1,2,3 if I made my own ammo. But I do not think so. I had a chance like every one else to site their guns in. I knew where it hit and shot accordingly. My point? Some one who shoots to site their gun in once a year and then goes hunting, $90 for a 8 oz can ain't going to make a difference. At that price I would shoot less also. IMHO

I tried BH209 several years ago. I could not justify the cost and stayed with T7 in my smoker.
The deer in the freezer are dead enough with T7. I have since moved to a smokeless build.

I guess I'm like many others that look for small incremental improvement from choices I make. Is it worth it? Probably not, but that has not stopped me. My old $500 Savage 30.06 shooting factory ammo harvested more deer than my very expensive custom rifle with top shelf reloading components. Welcome to the wonderful addiction of hunting and shooting.

No question BH209 is better (less corrosive and less fouling if nothing else). But hey, everyone can't afford it. I get that.

I love BH209
Yes it has gotten expensive but fortunately for me I have about 3-4 lbs equivalent.
Got it when it was less than $20 a can.
Best BP substitute I ever found.
Hope I never run out.
But if I do like one other mentioned, it would probably be time for a smokeless build but would be super tough to do as this ML I have is my first anniversary gift from my wife (24 yrs ago)
Ehh probably just try to find more BH209

It's pretty sad when it costs more to fire 3 shots to check zero than you pay for your hunting license.

At $176/lb plus shipping, plus Hazmat fees, it outweighs many shooting/hunting fees. A full year membership at our shooting & hunting club only cost $150.
I should probably sell my reserves of BH209 and fund my future smokeless muzzleloader.

Many of us here in the west are spending thousands of dollars every year in big game application fees and licenses. And hundreds to thousands of dollars to travel to hunt. A few more bucks per shot in powder doesn't bother us much.
