I am looking for advice on a scope for a 375 H&H for Africa. I think I need it to be relatively low power and for sure able to withstand the heavy recoil. Thanks for any and all advice.
You have to ask yourself what is the most DURABLE brand of scope. Do you hear Nightforce resonating? That would be my only choice for heavy recoiling cartridges.
The way I see it is there is no need to spend a lot on "glass". I will not need to "look at" what I am shooting. For this scope I will only be interested in durability of crosshairs as suggested
I have a Leupold 2.5x8 on one .375, a Leupold 1-6 Firedot on another.375 and a 1-6 Firedot on a .416 Rem. Mag. and, despite the naysayers, they have been flawless.
It's pretty darn hard to beat the old Leupold Vari-X III in 2.5-8 .
I have many rounds through my old H&H with it…..then moved it over to my relatively lightweight .375AI. It was still going strong when I replaced it for a higher power Leupold! It is now my back-up scope, I have ultimate faith in it!
I know that they are no longer being manufactured…..but like new used ones can be had very reasonably! memtb

I have a 1x6 huskamaw on 358 Norma it was about $1000 when I bought it. It works good.
I have a 2x scout scope on my 375 weatherby --I've shot it out to 250 yards with it. It was about $275
Leupold 1.5-5 on my 458 WM.
Leupold 2.5-8 on my 340 WM.
Couldn't afford the Zeiss Victory when I bought these two but have never felt the need to replace either.
I have a CZ 550 chambered in a 375 H&H. I purchased and installed a Leupold 1.5-5X scope and it has performed flawlessly. Accurate, reliable, almost like the scope was made for that rifle.
Nightforce 2.5x10x42 would be my choice for my 375H&H…..If buffalo or lion were on the menue, it would have a quick/high quality detachable scope mount(ie. Warne)….and, the rifle…iron sights for backup if things go sideways.
