Is just me or my lot of n570 but does this powder seem extra dirty? I'm running it in a 26" 30 cal & 28" 7mm pushing heavy bullets in both. Seems very dirty in both rifles.

While an old thread, I have been working up loads for my 28 Nosler.. Good speed, accuracy is a ? so far, but seemingly very dirty..

Try increasing neck tension see if that makes a difference. Are you running magnum primers?

I use max loads with it in a RUM, Lapua, Win Mag. Yes very dirty, or just black carbon. Not sure if it is any dirtier or the compounds are just darker.

As said, it is fast, but shoot slow. I have torched a RUM barrel in about 700 rounds using it almost exclusively. Great for a hunting rifle with minimum use. Not so much for a plinker.

Yes, have been pushing to find max load. Consistency day to day has been an issue at same loads with inconsistent pressures. Temps are cool. Will try crimping a bit more at lighter loads. Running 26" barrel plus break. Getting lots of speed with N570 and170 HHT's, which are clearly more forgiving on pressure and faster than say the 175 Barnes TSX's I wanted to shoot. Sort of back to square one. Thx for feedback.

This is my elk rifle, so less concerned about barrel life. Had great accuracy and speed one day with manageable pressure, and then same bullets and loads are all over the place the next day. I am going to back off loads and try it again. Have changed nothing so a bit perplexed. Been loading for well over 40 years with a lot of fast wildcats and have nit had this inconsistency issue before. Thoughts appreciated.

Were the first ones that had no pressure with virgin cases? It has been great for me. As you said back off and see if your ES cleans up.

I also believe as stated the "dirty" may have something to do with it. Mine have shot best with "cleaner" barrels. About the 7-15 range. Load deve, clean. Cold/clean bore mapping, clean, foul ready to hunt.

Had pressure issues with virgin and fire formed cases. I had not experienced that at this load pressure on new cases. I was tracking velocity and pressure issues as well as accuracy between new and fire formed brass. All the same lot of powder as well.. I will figure it out.. Just going to back way off and work back up to a more consistent load. About all I did on my last trip to the range was trash some brass. Lots of velocity to work with, but got to get accuracy back.
