How is the fire dot duplex vs the duplex?

I don't own any non firedot scopes if that helps.

It's nice to have in low light or dynamic situations. If you don't need it or want it, you can always turn it off.

The duplex reticle IMO is fine, at distance and low light harder to pickup with my aging eyes. The firedot fixes allot of that and it will be much crisper on the VX6.

I have probably a doz 5 & 6's duplex and FD reticles they are great scopes, different needs on different rifles once you start shooting a illum reticle hard to go back to not. You wont be disappointed with the choice TF, and warpig is good people; free bump GLWS;

I pretty much have all Firedots and can say if I didn't have them, I wouldn't have been able to take a shot at an aoudad and brown bear last year.
