This mag works well and the detachable mag and floor metal Is a bolt in that requires only a little tuning to the cartridge. It is also flush (Almost) and it take 4 rounds of 308 sized cases and 3 rounds of the short magnums.

Don't know if they make them for different brands of actions. you could call the manufacture and ask them.

I hope the 7wsm isn't going away--I just used did a load work up using brand new bertram brass with RE23 pushing 168 vld-H bullets at 3042 fps to shoot a .190" 3-shot group @ 100 yards this past weekend--that is from my bone stock used winchester model 70 shadow rifle I bought here on the forms

have to go back to the range to confirm the load but its probably the best or 2nd best group ive ever shot

I also inherited a lot of brass with my Winchester model 70 classic stainless 7mm wsm. I am gonna have it rebarreled to a heavier profile to be threaded, an have a 1:8.5 twist to run 140-180's my understanding is the Winchester action is longer than most wsm rifle brands but shorter than a long action.

There you go. We have dies, bullets, brass and powder. As long as you have components and accuracy/precision like this, commercial popularity is worthless.

my win 70 shadow will allow 3.025" in the "short action" blind mag box
 
So far only tested the 168 vld-h, hope it works as well for you as it is for me.
Now this is just my final load work up, still have to back it up at the range to make sure it wasnt a fluke but here is my target , obviously need to zero the scope too

The main selling point of the short mags was you could get magnum performance in a short action. The short mag doesn't do anything a 7 mag cant do. It just does it from a shorter fatter case that is more efficient and burns a little less powder. Now the reason the 270 short mag somewhat caught on and has hung around is because it Is 300 fps faster than the classic 270 one of the most popular rounds ever.
 
Due to a couple shortages ago and when the 7WSM was popular brass was hard to get. I bought a bunch of Federal 150 grn loaded ammo.

I use them as foulers, pull bullets when needed, and when I broke in my barrel for brass. The primer pockets start to loosen in about 3-5 reloaded firings but I have plenty of brass and has been consistent. Easily a .25moa gun on a bad day. Considered buying better high end brass but have plenty so no real need.

Switch to CCI primers. They are a little wider than Winchester and federal, so they stay tight in the pockets. Also consider backing off the charge a bit.

I have 7wsm Winchester brass fired at least a dozen times with no issues, just annealed every 4 to 5 firings to prevent split necks.
