Yeah my 73 gr ELDM is going 2830 fps. My 75 ELDM is at 2720 fps. I never even mentioned 80 gr bullets. The pictures of elk being taken down were with a AR15 using 77 gr TMK's.
They even make a 90 grainer for the bolt guys. Still 26-2700 fps and the BC is off the charts.
POF is worth a look for sure. I've go the Revolution piston and have had no issues what so ever. Smaller than AR10 platform but 308 power.
Whoa Whoa! The original poster was asking about 308 battle rifles. Then posters started talking about .223 that can do everything. I was pointing out the limitations of .223 and before that what I did not like about the FN and service rifle low powered 308 loads.
For home defence and it's a mob or even more than one I might tend to jump out with some fire power. Like out pig hunting I often go for the two for one bullet. Two pigs side by side just go for the classic heart/lung shot and blow them both over. It just takes pills with some horse power.
This does sound interesting.

You have a far different sense of reality. First off you mentioned ethics which is a forum rules violation. You take statements completely out of context and exaggerate. I have one built and one kit with Imbel receiver on the shelf. It is as accurate as the Armalite AR10 heavy barrel I had back in the 90's so I sold the AR10. I had two M1A's which I loved but sold them because I have the FAL STG-58. But for home defense I'll go with my AR15's using my 53 gr VMAX loads. For predators the 53 gr VMAX worked great. I'll be testing the 73/ 75 gr ELDM for yotes out to 550 yards in a couple of months. Anything farther will be dispatched with the 260 AI or 7mm RM.
Home defense. I have 9 mm over a few spots in the house. Three different gun cases. Next up, shotguns with 4 buck. If I live through that, AR's with "high cap mags". Doubt it will ever happen but look at Israel. Doesn't hurt to have good knives and a sword or two. Living in a large urban area has it's downside. Home invasions here are way up since covid.

Yeah I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley bordering ELA. I'm surprised I made it past 21 yrs old. Survive several riots, the Nightstalker, having several gangs after me, and the traffic. Glad I'm out of there. But it's getting worse everywhere including small towns.
