What makes the 6.5 PRC special?

At the end of the day it's a 6.5-284 that fits in a short action, or a 6.5 rem mag/slightly faster 260 ackley you can buy loaded ammo for if you need/want to. If those things interest you it's a pretty sweet deal, especially if you just hold your horses a minute for good brass.

If those differences don't matter to you then you are likely either satisfied with a 260/CM/47 or you're building a 6.5SS and calling it a day since it's the baddest anyway.

It should be a pretty bad PRS round. I wonder if any guys have started using it? The only issue I can see that the other 6.5s have an advantage over it is in recoil.

With the 147 grain ELD, Hornady has a published G1 BC of .697! I don't know if that's quite accurate, but you know it has a pretty high BC regardless.

It's still going 2250 FPS at 500 yards! I can see the PRC giving an edge to PRS shooters.

The bc is fairly accurate. I've shot it at 1,000 and it seems spot on. I know the 140 eld is spot along as I've shot it a few times at 1350-1450 yards. I will be playing with then147 more this spring when the snow and cold weather go bye bye.

And the 150smk is .713 g1 I believe. Should be an enjoyable combo approaching 3100

I agree with bc of 140 ELDM being accurate......I've shot it to 1300.

Not sure if anyone answered this but I couldn't find it if so.

The 300 PRC is entirely different than the rcm and is not a necked up 6.5 prc. It is a long action magnum that's built for heavy 30 caliber bullets at over win mag speeds. Very different than the failed RCM.

Have you had an actual look at the case of the 300 PRC ?
It's not a necked up 6.5 PRC
You should actually do some research on the 300 PRC cartridge so you know what the benefits of the chambering are.
