My Dad gave me a 670A Winchester that he has had for close to 30 years. The problem with this gun is I will never sell it because my Dad gave it to me but odds are I will never hunt with it the way it is. From what I have been able to find out, this is a low end rifle made to compete with the other economy rifles being made. It's a 30/06, three position safety. I already have a couple 30/06, is this action worthy of a new barrel and stock?

I think your 670 is just as you say it is. A cheaper version of the model 70. As far as i know the action is the same as a model 70 and if built with care should be as good as any.
