I was browsing the net and noticed that hastings slugs has created a 20 gauge 3.5" slug round that can only be fired out of a special edition H&R slug gun. It actually sounds like an interesting toy to try out, other than cost of shells and their extended availability. Figure a .615" 15/16th ounce slug at 2000 fps .........

First off, why put up with the recoil and just how far are you planning on shooting?

Second it may not group with the Hasting slugs and then you are hosed.

I just bought a TC 20 Guage encore barrel. The 2 3/4" Hornady SSTs grouped about 8-10" at 100 along with the Fed Premium Barnes Expanders. My Mossber 695 loves the Fed Barnes also and I have killed out to 185 yards with the 2 3/4 1450 fps loads. Tried the 20 guage Winchester platinum 260 gr in the 1700 fps 2 3/4" and they shot about 1.5"@100. Did not try the 1900 fps 3" loads as I have 1.5" at 100 and Exbal gives me drop data to 225 yds wtih my Nikon BDC. Three days later killed a nice 9 pt with 17" inside spread at 172 yds (2nd circle@ 6x on my regular Nikon 3-9x with BDC).
