max load for 6.5-284 norma

If the 25 fps rule per inch applies then his speeds are in line with ours. 2970 out of mine with 57.5 and 2940 with 56.5. 24" barrel.

At 3140FPS out of a 28" barrel is pretty good.. I run about 3020 max out of my 26" Cooper with 58.5gr. 25-30 FPS/in would still only get me to 3080. I'm actually pretty content at 2970. Bullet performance/killing power of the 140's is excellent from 50-1000 yards on game.

Thx to all you guys ! I have been using win. 284 brass for this but lapua brass be here this week gonna try that . Maybe that will let me go up more . My old load was with 130 gr. Bergers and 50.5 grains 4831 sc. To answer the question to lil pressure......flat primer and stiff bolt.

How much neck clearance is there?

You are right. My thinking cap was not strapped on tight. Should be around 3050 to 3080. Also, he is about 2 grains over Hodgdon max charge. I know I can get 3030 in my 24 if I push really hard. However I was able to get 11 reloads out of my lapau brass at my current charge weights. They are done though now. Loose primer pockets.

I am getting great results(.25-.4) with 51 gr 4831sc and 140 amax. 210 primer 24" barrel. Anyone hazzard to guess what fps i am getting? this seem to be a sweet spot. after reading this thread i'm thinking i need to speed this up a bit. No signs of pressure

I chonographed 51.5gr of H4831sc, Fed210m at 2850FPS with my 24" barrel. I'd say 51gr is around 2800FPS. 53gr produced 2950 FPS. Bullets were 140 Berger VLD's and 142SMK's.

Thanks Greyfox. i just looked at the ballistics(energy downrange). Even at 700yds the energy is still over 1000. Seems far enough for me. my longest kill shot to date is 425. Missed a whopper a few years back at 550. Trying to remedy that. side note.. which rangefinder do you suggest. my leica doesnt always give me a distance if there isn't a solid target over 500 yds.

I'm currently shooting a 140 Berger VLD, 49 grains H4350, Lapua Brass, and Federal 210M primers. According to my drops at 1000, 1250, and 1365, I am at 3072 FPS. I have no heavy bolt lifts.

I have been using a G7 rangefinder for hunting the last few years. I had similar issues with my Leica. The G7 has worked very well ranging difficult targets. I also like the the on board ballistics. They match my Shooter program exactly. Also have a Terrapin that is excellent, but use it mostly for 1000+ yard shooting. I believe it has been discontinued though.

Just had a brux barrel put on a Remington 700 la. 29''. 55 grains of h1000 is getting 2910 with a berger 140 vid over a magnetospeed.

I have not tried H1000 yet but I shoot 56.5 retumbo at 3050 in a 28.5". By most peoples standards this is a light load for sure. It is pleasure to shoot and is fast enough for me.
