6x too much for deep south whitetail hunting

Browsing the classifieds I came across a scope that matches most of what I am looking for. Is 6x too much for white hunting? Most of my kills are 100 + yards.

That depends upon if it's a variable…..and if that's the lower or upper end! A straight 6x would be a bit of a handicap in some circumstances! JMO memtb

jgleas114, when I lived in Louisiana, I used a 2-7. It stayed on 2x at all times, unless the intended target was at significant range or was standing unaware! You can easily take deer sized game out to 200 with a 2x……but with a 6x on a fast moving deer at a few yards, you'll only be seeing hair! JMO memtb

Where I hunt I use 2.5 x 10 X 56, 5x25x56, (2)8 x32x56, and a straight 8 x 56. If you aren't shooting over 400 the 2.5 x 10 is really good. Best all around for me is the 5 X 20 x 56. I want to be able to count hairs with my scope at the max distance I can shoot.
