338 SHERMAN

Thanks, any idea on what the new case capacity is? What kind of velocities are you getting?
I only fireformed cases, my scope bit the dust and didn't move forward with the project. Just picked another up so sometime in the next few months I will be working up loads.

The leupold scope I bought was only 2 feet high at 100, it tracks backwards vertically and will go no lower

Hornady is only showing .362 as the smallest. Is this going to be enough to size the neck? Based on above I assume those were different brand dies?

Rifle…Good
Brass…Good
Dies…Good
Fireformed…48 (2 were sacrificed to the Sherman oracle) 50 more to go and then can start to look at what to load for it. Used some 225gr Midway overuns (look like Swift Aframes???) and some Shooters World Precision because I have quite a bit and my 308 doesn't like it much. Used the Lee powder thrower for this at 50 gr and man it is nice to throw charges instead of weighing them.
Leaning to the 175 Hammer Hunter for one and definitely the 250 Berger…cause it's a 338!!!
A little heavier than I would have wanted but manages recoil well.
No target pics as it was only about 40 yards. Recent storm crushed my normal spot and trees all over the trail. I think it's gonna be a shooter though.

P.S. after firing 50 yesterday to break in and fire form, old Savage bolts suck!!!

Question for those who have gone through this with the 338 Sherman or other cases for that matter.

After fireforming, I have found my cases are only 2.465"-2.477". None are close to the 2.495" chamber length.

Is this normal? I know most cases continue to grow, but this seems like a lot.

Did I not use a stiff enough charge during fireforming. It was right in the middle of the charge weight for that bullet weight on a 338-06.
