Those shots at the steel at 1000 are with the 5c then? All the dead animals are with what barrel? When did you notice the Kreiger wasn't working out? What was the cause of the problem with the Kreiger? Just really curious as Kreiger is generally a highly regarded accurate barrel.

Tank, Here is the story. I tried to alter my post to change the barrel spec many times. But for some reason ( even though I am logged in) I have no edit button as an option.
First, I have Kreiger barrels that shoot very well. I am of the belief many barrel makers make great barrels. But anyone can make a bad one too.
So here is the deal. As soon as the break in was done I started to fine tune loads. I spent the next 75 rounds doing this. 4 or 5 powders, full rifle inspection of bedding, mounts and even added a 3rd NF ring to make sure all was not moving. Pulled the NXS off my 338 LM and replaced the new NXS I had on the 300. Many seating depths, two different bullets. Nothing made one bit of difference. The rifle was a 1 and 1/2 MOA rifle. Heck every factory Sendero or Accumark I have owned was better than that. All this was also done in NEW Lapua 300 win brass too. I called Kreiger to explain my problem and ask for suggestions and also ask about the possibility of if I should look into a 5 or 6 land barrel to help. They told me that "4 land rifling is just what we do" They had no offers of how to help the issue and said another tube would be 10 to 12 weeks and no offer of a replacment was made. I didn't press the issue as at that point I had no proof yet of what was truely wrong. So I said enough is enough. I called Broughton and ordered the new 5C barrel. When it came in it was installed by the same smith, who did offer to do the replacment work free. I split it with him as I brought the compoenents to him for the build. So I felt it was in no way his fault. I took it home with the new Broughton, broke it in, went back to my go to load with 210 Bergers and the rifle has shot 1/2 moa or better to 1000 yards every since.
So yes, all the steel pics and the game has been taken with the Broughton barrel. I need to change the barrel specs in that thread but will have to get assistance from the mods I guess.
I am not trying to bad mouth Kreiger. That is why I never added this to the build story. I have some of their tubes that are great shooters. But when no hand was extended to help at the time of need with my problem, and after the amount I had spent in the build, ammo time and trouble. I have bought my last Kreiger tube.
