    Hornady marketing

In the late 60's through the mid 70's if you wanted an accurate rifle you bought a Rem 700. Also we felt if a rifle would not shoot with factory Rem ammunition something was wrong with the rifle. Note. accurate was 1.25" or better. Now Remington's are junk and I have not seen their ammo...

    Leupold Scope Warranty Service

Tapping the turrets after an adjustment used to be common practice. Also going past the amount of adjustment one needed and then coming back. Most scopes did not have "clicks" so adjusting was at best a guess. Now we have the wonderful 1/4 min or 1/10 mil click that mostly work. The newer MK...

    Historical long range shooters.

Funny how in any thread there are some that cannot acknowledge accomplishment without denigrating the achiever. Shooting, music, hunting, food etc. There must be a class taught that one cannot comment on a post without including something negative. When I met Elmer Keith he was very...

    Leupold Scope Warranty Service

Sent a 2x7 that had been on my 375 for a number of years and the adjustments quit working, they sent me a new freedom 2x7. Probably a better scope but the mat finish is not as appealing as the high gloss on the older scope. I have a 6x40 that needs to go back but since it is one of the great...

What is the MOST FUSSY cartridge...and LEAST?

Least is a tie between 6mm ARC and 6MM BR fussy several 243's that I never got to shoot well and a .308 that will back up a 1/2" group with a 2" group. Whenever I decide to barrel the .308 it will produce several good groups in a row. Must be female.

    The Ultimate Hunting Rifle Action!

I do like the Bighorn/Zermatt actions. Since they take a Remington 700 style trigger do you go with a trigger mounted safety or a bolt mounted one?

    The Ultimate Hunting Rifle Action!

I much prefer a safety mounted on the bolt that controls the firing pin. Locking the bolt is nice also. Recoil lug, I have used both, a fixed ejector is a delight both on the bench and in the field. The Ruger 77 safety is a good attempt. I have ham handed friends that can consistently move...

Whats the worse rifle or gun you ever bought ? I hsve several tied

Probably a Thomas .45 for an idea marketed with no support. Of course the Star PD, a great idea and way ahead of it's time. Worked well was very accurate but the hammer was soft in the center and brittle on the out side. Dented in the center and then chipped on the sides. Very disappointing.

How is any sporterized rifle with a 2 piece scope base accurate?

Once you have decided to us a pic rail you are half way there. Most rails are quite "true" you should be able to mount the rail shimming which ever end needs it, and use epoxy to insure there is no stress on the rail. Then with the use of Burris rings with the inserts you should be able to...

How is any sporterized rifle with a 2 piece scope base accurate?

Help me understand your purpose. You have a rifle designed 130 some years ago, made in 30 some countries. I see you are from Sweden, When it was drilled for a side mount it may have been for any number of available scopes with diameters from 3/6 to 26mm many of which did not have windage...

Difference between Lapua and Strelok app ?

I also use several different apps. I find that when there is much difference the issue has always been a "smart" phone screen to enter data or my bi-focals! Good luck in resolving the problem but the final test is always at the target.

    7prc > 7rm ??

I think the issue with the 7PRC and velocity is it was introduced at a time when many of us have chronographs. Many of the older rounds that listed velocity either in adds or on the box came no where near in real life but most folks had no way to check. Helped a friend with a PRC, he likes to...

For those who have done it...

I have gone the barrel nut route on several rifles. Savage, Remington, Howa, Ruger, Zermatt, Aero and maybe some others. All have pleased me. Criterion, Shilen and Xmark barrels. While there are a multitude of excellent gunsmiths, and with the internet easily found, there are also many...

In the what if dept what if the Rem 722 had been introduced with a 3.15 mag box. What would we argue about and how many fewer cartridges would have been introduced.

    Custom .22-250?

I have owned several 22-250's and understand the appeal of the Ackley. Having said that I would go 22CM. Understand if you can live with not going to meetings, secret hand shakes, a 12 step program, hat, tea shirt, and the assorted smug feeling of owning an 22-250 AI you will get the same...
