Thanks for catching the spelling errors, but I never disrespected Bart. Am I to understand from your post that a 338wm, 300wm, 7x57, and 30-06 are only good out to 400y? Do you attribute the problem to the chambering, the rifle builder, or the shooter?

I guess BART has successfully hijacked my post and turned it into "should I flute the barrel on my next build?"

That was in response to BART chiming in without understanding the post, not yours. The two builds are because I have two daughters who love to hunt and think their 7-08 Marlins X7 are boring now.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. 2 builds; one off SA 700, other off LA M70 I have the barrels already and I flutted for weight and looks

Both the barrels I have are 6.5. i haven't decided if the little bit the Sherman offers over 06 or 284 case, (for me) is worth the brass prep and extra cost of custom dies.

What I have to work with: (1) Long action CRF Model 70 action (1) Short action Model 700 action (2) Flutted #3 barrels that are flutted to finish at 24". 1:8 twist I was planning on going: 6.5 Credmoore on the SA 700 6.5-06 or 6.5-284 on LA M70....maybe 6.5x55 Thoughts or other...

I have felt with Jim on several builds and have nothing but great thinks to say about the service and results I received. In fact, Karen has gone out of her way to help me with a UPS issue and is one of the nicest people I've talked to within the industry.
