I found him on the road after he dropped. The mother waited in my field.

I'm no expert but I've read the mom won't take him back once he grabs the smell of a human, again I read it somewhere and don't know if its true but I would've left him alone for momma to find him.

Why did you pick him up?
He was just born, in the middle of the road, and would not move. It was on a curve and vehicles fly down our road. Was worried he was going to get run over. The mother waited in the field within 50 yards. I carried him to the middle of the field and when I walked away the mother came and got him. We saw him and mom eating out of feeder all year long. The deer on our property are used to us and some eat out of Jill's hand.
