A man might pick up one of the smaller ( cheaper ) gun safes just for powder storage. 200-400 bucks is a lot better then loosing your home or more importantly your family.
Please do not store your powder in a hermetically sealed container.

^^^^^^this is true. I work in a shop that has explosives, lots of explosives, mostly shape charges, det-cord and detanators. While we do have extinguishers in the main shop there is none in the gun bay. If there is a fire there you just drop your stuff sound the alarm and watch it burn from a safe distance. We do have to have our extinguishers checked every year though I don't know if is company policy or manufacturer.
