2 biggest problems with the X-bolts- no alternate trigger options and not much in the way of alternate stocks. No Manners, MacMillian, etc. But they are shooters.
Did you somehow get a X-bolt into a Manners? MacMillian seems to have discontinued their Xbolt offerings, probably in agreement with Browning so they don't compete with the factory models Browning is offering.
I have seen somewhere maybe youtube that the spring can be changed. Looked dicey at the time...I have seen other videos on things that didn't turn out to be worth the trouble or actually not possible at all. Do you have a recommendation on what spring to use as a replacement?an aftermarket trigger is available. just changing the spring is a big help.
Yeah, they were available for a short time about 18 months ago. They were even taking back orders, then it all disappeared. I have a couple of Xbolts - one is a Hunter Eclipse and I'd like to lighten it up by at least 1 lb and have a tactical angle grip. No, it was a comment that 700 dollars for a premium stock (McMillan, manners, etc) is not ridiculous and in reality is pretty much the norm.
I saw the other day that I couldn't find the x bolt game scout, that's a real shame.
Thanks for the link...I'll give it a try when I have time and patience. I hate it when **** doesn't go as advertised.
Timney makes a drop-in unit for the X-Bolts...2 biggest problems with the X-bolts- no alternate trigger options and not much in the way of alternate stocks. No Manners, MacMillian, etc. But they are shooters.
A debate that goes on forever...mono vs led core. Not the point here so won't get into that. Point is a lot of hunters must use them, so a "standard" twist is an important option. Not everyone want to shoot heaviest or highest BC. BTW, 90% of hunting shots are under 500 yards.I think there are better options than monos - I guess if you are limiting your shots to less than 4 or 5 hundred yards and you don't care about weak BCs, maybe they are for you. I haven't been impressed with any of the monos I have tried...the only way I would use a mono is if I lived and hunted in a state like California who forces you to use them.
Wow, thanks for the link. I just ordered a couple of springs but may try one of the timneys on one of my Xbolts.
Has anyone actually seen a X-Bolt Max Long Range for sale anywhere?
