Wyatt's Extended for SAUM

I have what i hope is a quick question about a new gun i bought. i have a 7saum built on a defiance ultralight, manners eh1, and hawkins bdl bottom metal. It has the wyatt's mbe-4 extended box. the inside dimension of the box is around 2.995. i was hoping to load 2.988-2.990 to maximize case capacity of the saum.

what i have found is that if i load 2.975+, the case head dips down on the 2nd round in the box, and the bolt slides over, not chambering the round. if i load the cases to 2.955, it cycles and feeds all rounds flawlessly. on closer inspection, it seems the follower has the rounds riding to the side of the box(duh) and at the corner radius of the box, the dimensions are shorter than the middle.

i guess my question is, with a wyatt's extended, how long can you actually load and have reliable feeding? if ~2.955 is the realistic max, i almost feel using an accurate mag at 2.950 would be almost a better choice.

Ive not had the best luck with Wyatts either. You might try a Bainey box from PTG. Its nothing more than a Wyatts but it's 3.11" so it may be more tolerant to tipping or at least give you more room to ride forward.

Which ultralight action are you running? I have the XM ultralight for my WSM and I use a Defiance XM bottom metal. It's 3.2" and I run my 300 WSM at 3.118" COAL with no issues. If you're looking for a detachable mag then can't help.

XM is definitely the way to go
