Highlights from website:

We have a rifle range with 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 yard targets.
Owners of Class III firearms must be in possession of any special permits or paperwork required by law.
Rifles up to and including .460 Weatherby Magnum caliber may be fired.
Full Metal Jacket ammo is permitted - but Tracer, armor piercing, and steel core ammunition are prohibited.
To shoot at the 200 yd target you must be able to place 2 of 3 shots in the red center of the target. The same is true to move from 200 to 300, 300 to 400 and 400 to 500 yard targets.

Fees:
The shooting fee for a one time visit is 20.00.
If you are a member it will be 15.00 per visit.
The opening special for October 2010 is 40.00 for the rest of 2010 and all of 2011.
November 1st. it will go back to the regular yearly price of $100.00 per year.
At this time we are cash only.

We will be open from 9 am to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
We will be open on Sunday from 1:30 until 6:30 p.m.

My comments: Everyone has said that area north of Dallas needs a long range to shoot at and now we have it! Realistically, this is as close to DFW as a new 500 yard range can get. Go and shoot!

Well after reading the range rules it is not for me-----thought we had something for a minute. Might be good for those just starting out.

Well after reading the range rules it is not for me-----thought we had something for a minute. Might be good for those just starting out.

looks like tac pro in mingus is your kinda place and not much farther from you.

for DFW gun ranges this range has many features that other ranges do not have (like fmj allowed, steel plates to qualify and goes past 100 or 200).
and is the closest to dfw that has 500.

have been out the past 4 weekends and it has only been open for 4 weeks. word is spreading online and owner says he has shooters ready to go at 9am on Thursdays and Fridays (traditional workdays).

Owner lives to shoot and has built range literally next door to his house.

As close as it is to me, I'm definately going to check it out. That's only about 20 miles from my house.

I drive 45 min each way and it is worth the drive.

The owner's name is Terry, and he's very accommodating. I've only been out there once, but it's going to be a nice facility. The only drawback is the shooting table. All of the tables are on blocks, on top of gravel. They aren't the most stable platforms, and it's hard to get the right height on a chair to get set up behind the rifle. Beyond that, it's fantastic.

Owner says the pistol bay construction should begin this month. Scheduled target date for completion Jan 31st (if everything goes well). Do not quote me or hold me to any of this. Just wanted to type up what I remember in conversation. Having pistol is a great thing.

Businesses normally just do not open with everything completed on opening day.

Range construction is ongoing and handgun ranges are to be added. This is great news!

I went out there about 2 weeks ago with my young son. Terry, Dan, and Cecil were all very personable and it was nice not to have to drive 2 hrs to shoot past 100yds. It's only about 40 minutes from Allen.

The tables are less than ideal. They are working on a better setup. But, there's also a burm set up for shooting prone which is our strong preference anyway.

My son was able to qualify 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 yds in pretty short order. They are just wanting to make sure that folks aren't coming out there shooting through the tree tops or anything crazy.

We will definitely be back as often as possible.

have not been out in the last 3 weeks but they were scheduled to begin construction for pistol bays in Feb (will not affect rifle range).

Has been icy and snowy so construction might not have started.
