Is it just the lighting or is the blueing on the barrel a little worn?

It's definately not blueing, I think it's Remington's TryNyte PVD coating and has a dull, matte look to it. Almost like it's begging for gun oil, but that particular spot is where it sets in the gun cabinet. I took it out of the gun cabinet yesterday and just took pictures, I didn't try and "gussy" it up. I usually lightly oil the action/barrel and use rubbing alcohol to get the oils off the stock. JohnnyK.

I'm still pretty set on the 700P but does anyone know the barrel twist for the 7 Rem Mag. Could I possibly shoot 180 gr VLD's?

well I found it already. It has a 9 1/6 twist, is that enough for 180 grainers or should I just stick with the 168's
