Wow Primers $1600.00 for 5000

Get a big pot.....I'll bet you'll get addicted to lead- ( just don't get addicted to inhaling it 🙃) and wish you had a bigger one. Once I started Powder Coating pistol bullets, I realized how cheap you can actually load.......the only problem now is cheap lead sources are drying up. Another way to stay in the hobby year round although it seems time is the hard commodity to come by.

On the list
Send me a copy of the list when you figure it's full! That way when you all stop buying from them they will get such a surplus.....I'll be able to buy it at 5 cents on the dollar! And because you are man of integrity and would never buy from THE LIST....I will sell to you for 7.5 cents....😂

That's why I love ya Skippy, Always looking out for me

I guess ya gotta look at things open minded these days. If you are older like me, 5k worth of primers might be a lifetimes worth. If you're a competitive shooter it might be just a years worth but if it's your only source what do ya do? I live near a small private shooting range I belong to and when someone is shooting there I can here them most days. I haven't heard near as much shooting going on in the last few months as previous. There used to be a couple young guys that shot there and I know they would spend most of the day and probably shoot 500 plus rounds between handgun and AR's in a day. I haven't seen them there for a while. Often the bad thing about life is that when you finally get to a point where you have the time and money to do something some other issues come along that make it difficult to impossible to do. Health, age, lack of ammo or ammo building supplies etc come to mind. For me I have a number of passions and shooting is just one of them so it's not so hard for me I just shoot paper less and lean a little more into one of my other interests. I have plenty of supplies to hunt with, but not so much that I can play a lot at the range. I figure most are doing the same right now.

Absolutely right....shift gears for awhile, try more of family time or your second and third hobbies....this too will come to pass!

I was talking to a local ammunition maker, I was talking about how high the primers were, he said if I told you what I pay for primers you wouldn't believe it, he said he had to wait for a shipment for six months but he pays 22 dollars a thousand or 110 per case

I had quite a few primers on hand when this started and a fair amount of powder. I really haven't had too bad of a time getting powder right now, lucking out on searching the online retailers just at the right times and doing a little trading. Now I find I've stocked up on powder but it looks like primers are going to be the tough one to find. I will NOT pay the kind of prices that they want right now at some places. I'm retired and had been doing quite a bit of shooting the 3 yrs prior to Covid. Not much last year of course, and it doesn't look like much this year. But with people trying to charge this much for primers it looks like I might have to pick a new hobby!

Agreed. When I was a younger man, it was very common to burn 10-20k rounds, rifle and handgun, during a 6-8 month competitive season, and one year during single 4 month summer season, I shot over 10k rifle rounds. Between near daily practice and competing 3 weekends out of most months, it didn't take long to consume a lot. Then, there were those P-dog shoots where we could burn between 200-500 rds a day per shooter.

Those were the days when one could buy the 5k cases of Rem 7 1/2 BR primers for $69 and bulk mil surplus powders for cheap!! And for bullets, well bulk cartons of match 52/55, 69's and DCM 175's were at prices we can only dream about now.
