North from the Blue Range AZ/Gila NF and West along the Rim. We occasionally speak with a forest service fire watch person. That person told us they are spotting them from the watch tower. About 40 miles from Flagstaff now.Have the Mexican gray wolves made their way north into Arizona?
I hope they do not become too plentiful. They sure do eat a lot of mule deer! From AZGFD web page:
"
Joint news release:
Arizona Game and Fish Department
New Mexico Department of Game and Fish
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
The wild population of Mexican wolves in the United States saw its fifth consecutive year of growth in 2020. According to the recent count, the U.S. population of Mexican wolves has increased by 14% since last year, raising the total number of wolves in the wild to a minimum of 186 animals."
I'm worried too. The mule deer haven't recovered from the record drought, so all other ungulates are on the menu.I hope they do not become too plentiful. They sure do eat a lot of mule deer!
Wish they would work their way Into HollyWierdApparently they have worked their way down all the way to Northern California.
Hollywood is a great place to live, especially now that the air quality is so much better. Nothing like the Hollywood hills!Wish they would work their way Into HollyWierd
