Winchester Extreme Weather SS

I've had Extreme Weather M70s in .30-06 and .308. I tried many bullets in each rifle and both were fired considerably. Both guns were quite picky as to the bullets they would shoot well. The best I can say is these rifles would group 1.5" (or slightly less) for five-shot groups at 100 yards. (Three-shot "Internet" groups were considerably smaller.) To confirm, I fired five, five-shot groups with each gun and averaged them. This was using the most accurate bullet for each. Plenty adequate for most hunting, but many of us expect better from a bolt-action rifle.

My guns weren't tampered with; they were used straight out-of-the box. Both had 6x Leupold fixed power scopes.

Of all available bolt guns for around a grand, these are my favorite. Rugers run a close second. Just stay away from the late New Havens. They seem to have been assembled with various parts "seconds".

Play around with some factory loads and sub MOA shouldnt be an issue. Ive shot probably 20 different M70s. All shot well.
