Wilson Combat NULA rifles

I had a NULA in .284 Winchester built when Forbes still owned the company. Great little rifle but a bit too light for the longer ranges I often shoot at. Sold it after taking a bighorn ram at 675 yards.
Got the ram but it was tough to shoot that far with that light gun… it just didn't settle well. Replaced with a 8.5 lb custom that I shoot much better at those ranges.

Does anyone have any hands on experience with this rifle? I'm looking at possibly buying one if I can find one took look over, but would like to hear from those of you that have one or tinkered with one.
Thanks
I have one in 6.5CM. Just got it. Been to the range twice. Shot a 0.76 group. 3 shot groups but right around 1" was more common. Not so bad for a light rifle. I was surprised that the new ones by Wilson Combat aren't bedded at all. I knew they free floated the barrel but figured it would be bedded at the recoil log at least. There are two aluminum pillars around the actions screws. I'm gonna skim bed it. Don't like how loose the recoil lug is in the stock. Pretty sure the action screws take all the recoil. Kinda disappointing in a $3k rifle but everything else is as advertised. Nice thing is with scope, rings, and a suppressor it's just right at 7lbs.

That's good to know, thanks. I want to see one in person before I pull the trigger but am having trouble finding one.

I went ahead and ordered one from Wilson Combat. I think I will take delivery prior to May 1st.

I ordered a Model 20 in a .308, 1-10" twist, 20" barrel, with a Kodiak brown stock. I will purchase/install a suppressor next summer…

I have a LH 308 NULA that Melvin did the final fit and finish on himself, more than 20 years ago. Weighs just over 6 lbs with scope and 4 in the mag. Perfectly balanced on the front action screw. A dream to shoot and shoots great offhand, which most ultralights do not do well.

He was a hell of a great guy and I was very sorry to hear he passed. Wonder how long before Wilson brings out a LH version.

I really want a 280 AI, so I'm not sure if I will end up buying one. I don't really do any western hunts and my shots are well under 500 yards. I just think it's a really cool rifle, but I'm still considering it if I can find someplace were I can put my hands on it.
