Will a muzzle break make my 7mm WSM louder from a distance?

I am having a muzzle break installed on my new barrell.I know muzzle breaks make the rifle louder for the shooter, and people standing close by,but what about from 200 yds and beyond?I am asking because I shoot alot from my backyard out into the field behind me,but I have neighbors that are a few hundred yards away.I don't want to p*** off my neighbors if I can help it.They haven't said anything about the noise from my previous 300wm (non braked)rifle.I just wondered what the noise difference is like from a distance away?

If there house is off to the side of your shooting station then yes it will be loud'er.

And if they are down range (and I hope there not) It will not be as loud.

For a case such as yours I would suggest building a sound tunnel ( just a square
box 3'x3' open front and back with some sound absorbing ceiling tile or cork inside.

Placed in front of your shooting bench with just the muzzle inside it will reduce
sound quite a bit.

My neighbor neighbor was bitching quite regularly.

I'd shoot and a deputy sheriff would show up.

We'd chat and discuss rifles etc.

He'd leave thing I would break out the 375 H&H and the deputy sheriff would appear again.

To keep peace in the area I built a barrel suppressor. That is a 50 gal plastic barrel long ways w/a slot out of both ends and two holes on the muzzle end that would fit 2 25 gal plastic barrels. They were carefully shaped an fit together. Then wrapped with carpet.

Effective enough to suppress calls to the sheriff's dispatcher. When shooting a braked 338 RUM and 270 AM.

Now that the neighbor is trained I've done away with the barrel thing.

My shooting bench is 93 yards behind the house and with out the 50 gal barrel suppressor my wife still jumps in the kitchen when I shoot.:D

Thanks for the input,I like the idea of making a sound supressor.Sounds like an easy way to get rid of alot of the noise.

The wood box thing works realy well , I've seen them that were about 5'x5" with just a small 1'x1' hole in and out k, the inside has several layers of "egg crate" foam ,this worked very well for knocking the noise down to a very tolerable level.

I shoot alot of my guns now with silencers on them , its much nicer to everybody ,you get the effect of a brake , the noise level is dropped down to that of a quiet 22 lr. Its a bit of a pint o go through the paperwork but its well worth in in my oppinion
