why such a large difference in data between sources

I learned to reference more than one source the hard way. I got some load data for 40 grain bullets using Varget in .22-250 from a printed softcover manual from a well-known reloading equipment company. I loaded a few up and touched one off. The minimum load was hot enough that I couldn't get the bolt open.

With some effort I was eventually able to beat it open and the case had HUGE wipe marks and a smashed-flat primer. I doubt it was all that far from a real disaster. I checked another source and the load I tried was 3 grains hotter than the Max load in Hodgdon's manual!!! Typos do happen. The piece-of-junk manual went right in the trash. Fortunately the almost-new Kimber rifle was OK. I now check as many sources as possible.

man thats nuts. luckily it turned out alright!

They have been out of production for so long that the only way I know of now is if someone wants to sell theirs. I'm using stock I bought a long time ago and I'm almost out. I loaded 60 rounds of 140 gr XLC for my 7RM 20 years ago to go to Montana and I'm still using those rounds to hunt here in Georgia. Shot a buck with them last year at 300 yards. Just had to add a story.
