Who Knows What This Is?

This Herter's Professional Model was in a lot set I purchased recently, but I have no clue what it is for. It is definitely some kind of measuring device as it has measurement markings on the outer dial and on the inner. Maybe an early bullet seating depth gauge? Anyone have a clue?

Looks like a micrometer seating stem from an old Herters die. Just reread your post, and you have the Professional Model set, and often, those did come with a micrometer head for seating.

Similar to some modern ones. Remove the fixed seater stem, if in place, and screw in the micrometer in its place. Adjust up or down to achieve the best seating depth for your bullet to improve groups accordingly.

Sure enough, I tried them on a Herter's 243win and 30-06 seating die and I guess that's what it is. Wow this place is amazing!
