Which turkey gun?

I know this is an old thread, I am pretty new to this board. I have been using a T/C Encore with either a 12ga or 20ga barrel, and a red dot sight. It's dam deadly out to 60 yards with TSS 7 shot size loads. I have two 12 ga & the 20ga Encores set up for my sons when they want to go with me.

Turkey hunting is not high volume shooting. And compared to other hunting expenses, $10 a shell is cheap for the just about best there is to use! If you don't want to use it, don't. If it wasn't for TSS shot, I'd never consider a 20ga let alone a 410. And I know people use those succesfully with lead shot. This is all what you want to make of it. I don't use TSS to shoot long range, though you sure can. Hard to argue with the pattern densities though, or the penetration from a #9 piece of shot.

I'm just about done setting up another 20ga dedicated turkey gun, another 870. Lightweight, easy to carry and gets the job done! Really looking forward to these spring seasons!

How are you setting them up?

Thanks

21" Rem Choke barrel, .565" non-ported choke tube, every spring I can replace is replaced with a Wolff Springs spring, Volquarson Exact Edge Extractor, a Wilson Tactical safety button (sticks out a little further and very easy to manipulate), a Hogue stock set, and I mill the receiver in the footprint of a Burris FastFire. I choose an 870 for the steel receiver to do this.

Also polish up the inside of the mag tube, Wolff mag spring, and a low drag aluminum follower in place of the plastic one. Some will argue not all of this is needed, but I want to and can, so I do.

I'm in this camp.

If one is shooting a round of sporting clays, yes, $10 a shell would be rather excessive. But mostly, the outrage over the cost of TSS is much ado about nothing. It definitely works as advertised.

I finally found the perfect turkey gun for me. For now…

I've been using a SBE Turkey for a bunch of years.
shootist7 got me in a headlock and forced me to try the 1.75 oz #9 TTS.
I'm glad he did.

Wow! That is a lot of shot! That ought to do it!
I really wanted to build a benelli ultralight into a turkey gun, but I ran across this Beretta and I absolutely love it.
I've been using the Apex Greenleaf blend and it is absolutely devastating!
