What'll you be carrying for spring bear?

Will be using one of two rifles, Ruger 77, tang safety, 35 Whelen with a Leupold 2 X 7 VXR Firedot with Barnes 225gr TSX, or a vintage 1895 Marlin in 45-70 with a Leupold VXR 1 X 5 Firedot scope shooting Barnes 300 grain FBHP bullets. Both are a deadly combination on bear.
The Venerable Whelen!!! 🥂

If not that, I'd carry my little RSM .416 Rigby. 😁

I had a friend that was setting up a trip fro him, his two sons and myself for spring bear. The problrm came when they -Canada wanted us to quarantine for two week in there hotels. Then ten days of hunting so the trip would be almost a month cost. No way- We cancelled the trip.
Wow....talk about ridiculous. I hate that for you guys. But it brings up the topic of the impact of no non-resident hunting in Canada on the different animal populations.
I have no idea what percentage of the deer or bear are taken by non-residents, but in some locations it could be sizable.
For big mature deer it could be a real positive on the next available season.
Anyway, I don't wanna hijack the thread, so back to seeing what everyone is toting with them this spring.

Curious here, but why the change of bullets in the mag?

Trophy retains more weight after it opens. Better penetration.

What was the weight retainage on that bullet that went through that moose last year phorwath?
