Hello im getting ready to load some 6MMAi rounds up. I have a 27 1/2 inch barrel including break. 1:8 twist. Im running 105gr bergers im wanting to know what powder you guys are running for the most accurate loads. Im on the fence between RL22 or H4350 any suggestions? thanks

While I'm not shooting the 105 gr. Bergers, I have shot 100 gr. Hornady SPBT out of my 1-9" twist 6mm AI and found the best accuracy came from H-1000. H-4831SC was a close second. Both would give me 0.500" 3-shot groups at 100 yards. Hope this helps. I did try an old lot of RL-22 I have and it didn't work at all with the Hornady.

I use 50grs of H4350 with 90 gr Bergers Target. I'm looking at .719, .510, .607 and .318 groups.

43.5grs of Varget with a 75gr Vmax got me around .800 groups.

45.5 grs of IMR4064 with Sierra 75 HPs shot between .330 and .549.

My two best groups with IMR4350 and 75gr Sierra HPs is .140 and .250 but I'm looking at the groups in my 6mm AI file and I didn't write down the charge weight! WTH?

So there's a couple loads to start with.
I just loaded up a few 75gr HP Sierras with VV N160 to try out today. We'll see what happens.

By the way, I'm running a Stiller right bolt, left-eject action, a Bartlein 1-8, 4-groove heavy varmint barrel in a Stocky's thumbhole stock.

With the 105's, RL 22 gives the best speed and accuracy. H1000 is 100 fps slower with equal accuracy. 50 grains of either works for me. I lean toward H1000 as is is temp stable, I get some pretty big velosity swings with RL-22 from summer to winter

Here's a picture of my 6mm AI.

I found my charge in some other records so here's the groups I shot with this load. The one on the right was yesterday. You might want to give it a try.

Hey thanks for all the info. I loaded up a few to find my max load. Looks like 53grs is max and i feel better at 52 to 52.5 for a max. Now im going to load up some test rounds and see what she will do. I was really happy with the VOL i was getting in the 3450s with the 52gr load. 105gr hunting VLD Right now im working with the RL22 so in a day or two im going to test for accuracy. I will keep ya informed in case some one else could use the info.
