I didn't really think about the wires when I bought them but I noticed it's not very handy trying to work the controls when they lay on side of your neck.Recently bought a pair too.....definitely dislike the wires
My Axil protectors show up this week. I can't wait to try them out.I went to using the Axil GS Extreme for the little bench shooting I do. I hate the wires but its more comfortable than the bulkier hearing protection which can interfere with a good cheek weld to the stock. The Axil setup still allows for hearing while hunting but often I feel like I miss some sounds... but then again, does anyone ever hear a deer walking thru the brush in the woods? I think not. lol
You guys ever try one of these? Especially for those who shoot in the summer
I shoot year around like yesterday. rt
I just bought the same Axil's. I'm bout deaf. I'm not happy with the hearing amplification of them. I have a set of Walker Silencer's that I've had for a couple years. No cables. They work well.
The Walker Silencer's are way more amplified to hearing and shut off well when shooting. I have a pair of Walker and when my son was playing video games online with friends I could hear every word he was saying while I was in living room and he all the way down the hall in his bedroom. I'd yell out " I heard that !".I went to using the Axil GS Extreme for the little bench shooting I do. I got mine for $129.99 no sales tax at Cabela's in Billings about 3 weeks ago. I didn't think to check Scheels when I was there before that . I've seen online for low as $99.99. also have seen their earbuds for $599.99 ! Screw that. I got my Walker Silencer's half off on a sale from Midway for less than $100 two years ago.My Axil protectors show up this week. I can't wait to try them out.
That's good to hear. I haven't tried in the field yet. They came with the little wind things. Have to tried them ? I'm hoping will work better than around the house. I think my hearing has a lot to do with it. Half deaf in left ear close to in right.Agreed! I usually turn them up just below hearing wind noise and don't adjust very often!
With no wind, I can bring the volume up high enough to hear the grass "rustle" as I stalk through it! memtb
I've never shot mine without brake either. I've shot 454 Cassul and even 45 Colt out of it. The 45 Colt is a little pop with no recoil
They do very well. You can hear all kinds of things in the woods you don't with your ears. At least my deaf ears .Do the Walkers amplify sound pretty well ? If so I would be interested in these ? I would use them even in archery if that was the case.
Have you or do you use the brake that came with it for lead loads ? I haven't .The XVR is so heavy….I think (hope) that I could handle the recoil without the brake. If not, remove the brake for plinking…..re install for hunting with the heavy loads! memtb
I was going to carry it while hunting in case of griz. Even bought a Gunfighter holster for it. I wanted to keep the Sig Romeo red dot on it tho. It's motion activated. So it basically would be on all the time while walking but it wouldn't fit all the way in holster with it on. I was going to heat holster up with hair dryer and mold it. I changed my mind and thought the XVR is to **** heavy anyway . Returned the holster . Bought a new Glock 20 10mm from a buddy few days later. Bought a Gunfighter holster for it. Done deal !The XVR is so heavy….I think (hope) that I could handle the recoil without the brake. If not, remove the brake for plinking…..re install for hunting with the heavy loads! memtb
