What is the the most flat shooting cartridge yall can think of?

If you've got an adjustable stock or a chassis with 0 drop you could mount the scope way above the bore (2.5" or so) like is done with an AR and the rifle will appear to shoot flatter due to the extra ~1" between the center of the bore and center of the scope.

I did a test of this. It took me three or four hours to complete. It been a few years, so I don't remember exactly. I used a very accurate factory Savage rifle in .223 Rem. The two ring heights were 1.6" and 2.2". The rifle was sighted in at 200 yards with the 2.2 rings. Ten shot group was 7/8". Then it was switched to 100 yards followed by firing at 300 yards.

The 1.6 rings were installed. Again it was sighted in at 200 yards followed by groups at 100 yards and 300 yards.

Both at 100 yards and 300 yards the high rings printed groups noticably closer to the line of sight.

Don't know what the point blank range was, but my 6.5-300 WWH only required 19 MOA to go from a 100 yard zero to dial on at 1,000.

Don't forget the 6mm PRC. 105 hybrid 😂😂😂

Are we talking about flattest shooting at a target or hunting an animal?

At what distance in yards does the flattest shooting bullets (6.5-300 and 26 nosler) become "unethical" on game? My 300 RUM is not as flat shooting as the two above but I probably won't get as much flack if I were to shoot a moose or elk at whatever distance is considered "ethical" with my 300 RUM compared to the 6.5 or 26 would I?

What bullet are you shooting out of your 300 RUM, that isn't as flat as a 6.5 -300? Out to 500 yards?
