My 338 edge is the "Big Ugly rifle" as it sports a crappy choate ultimate sniper rifle stock and I strap it directly to the four wheeler. It gets mud all over it and looks like its been through hell but keeps on shooting.
I thought about putting it in a nice stock but why, just so i could ruin that stock although the Choate stock is ugly its full composite and isnt pretty so if it gets a bit dinged up who cares.
I have a roving set of names that move from rifle to rifle (I suspect the causative agent transfers when they're in the gun safe or some rifles are bi-polar) depending on how the last round fired impacted. The names range from happy and polite names to well into the less pleasing and more colorful range. Just this last deer season I hunted with Trusty ol' Betsy and Bastard all in the same day, and same rifle.
Names change, depending on the success of the shot taken. Some days my rifles have pleasant names and some days they are called very ugly name. I suppose if the guns could talk they would be calling me/the shooter the bad names.
I call my Encore M/L "Biscut" cause when it goes off we havin something and biscuts for dinner! My 10ga BPS "Big Hammer". My new 270AM thats "Easy Money"! I swear to never add up all I spent on a gun again! Hopefully in a few days I will rename it "Watch This"!
