Wanting more velocity out of 338 WSM

They keep chambering specs "secret" so can't model in QuickLOAD. ;)
Never had a problem with them in QL, measure them up and punch them in then load them up. Really don't find QL over all that useful, neat but not needed.

Looks like Varget, R17, H4350 speed powder will be a good focus. In the short fat large cal throating out gains you a lot.

@tonechaser88

Do you buy powders online or locally?
What is in your available list?

I use Midway to indicate what can be had even though I may not get it from them. I only listed if it seemed to be an improvement. Some available powders are not by QL figurin.
Hodgdon H4350
Hodgdon LVR
Reloader TS 15.5
Winchester 760

There are other powders that may work but where to get them from?
I have a local shop here that keeps a very good supply. I have H4350 and Win760. I might go back and see if he has RL17 in stock as that seems to be one of the most mentioned for maybe a slight boost in velocity without going to a slow burner. A friend of mine mentioned 6.5 StaBall which has done good on velocity and consistency for him, its a smidge slower than H4350.

What is the freebore on your chamber?

Are you jamming the bullets hard?

Thanks
Sadly, I have no idea. I had the gunsmith make that decision based on what I was trying to achieve with this build. I can tell you I'm seated out to mag length on an AICS mag. I am not jamming bullets for sure.

What is your cartridge COAL?

Can you post a pics of a loaded bullet?

(1) Before loading it into the chamber, and (1) pic after removing the unfired round.

Does the bullet have rifling marks on it, when you remove the unfired round from the chamber?

Are you using magnum primers? I'm using F210M now which reduced pressure signs in my 338SS. With the 230 eldx and H4350 F210M and a 25" barrel I was at 2770. I'm now using H4350 with 210 Barnes at 2850 and chopped my barrel down to 22"

I'm not saying its a direct comparision, but in my 35WSM I'm running h4895 with 225 AB. 2700fps with a 14" lilja barrel. I tried Varget, IMR 4895, H4985, and I think RL15. IMR got great speed but crap accuracy. H4895 was the best combo. Varget was a close second.
