Wanting more velocity out of 338 WSM

Superperformance or 4831 along with the RL17 FEENIX suggested should probably get you there N560 would maybe be the ticket as well. Superform and N560 have been pretty easy to find at a decent price. at least around here.

I really like Superformance but the burn rate and load data is so so limited. It seems best in light for caliber applications.

QuickLOAD still has no data for Superformance.

Does anyone know if it is named something different in another country?

I thought N570 might be on the slow side but didn't think it'd be that far off, How much of a charge of N570 will that thing take?

565 might be closer but may even have to back off to 560.

No, 565 and 560 are just as bad. Fastest with a full case makes 2300fps and 32k PSI in a QL model.

Those powders are way too slow. You're gonna wanna be in the varget-h4350 range. Might be able to work with h4831 but you won't get the speed you want.
I shoot h4350 in the ones I've had. I was able to get 2850 with a 230eld fairly easy with single digit es and sub half moa group. If your looking for the most speed rl17 is gonna be your best bet. H100v is pretty impressive on speeds as well

What brass did you use ? I'm currently using normal 300 wsm brass

I used adg 300 wsm brass mostly. I used Winchester 325wsm brass in one rifle with good results.

I was also thinking along the lines of slower powders, but QL shows all the usual suspects need significantly compressed loads to reach the pressures needed to generate 2700 fps. N565 requires 71.6 grains at 119% load density to reach 2700. I didn't find any VV powders capable of 2700 fps without exceeding either max pressure or case capacity.

Concur with FEENIX on RL-17. QL shows 61.0 grains at 2708 fps with pressure of 55,382 psi and a 99.6% load density. Max load shown is 63.5 grains at 63,597 psi and 103.7%.

You might research what the 338 Sherman short guys are using, going to be very similar.
Throating is huge in this type of application too.

Lowest charge to get to 2700 is 64.6 grains at 55,498 psi and 113% load density. Max load shown as 67.0 grains (2811 fps) at 63,809 psi and 117% load density. Data is based on QL preset for COAL (2.747") and case capacity (81.5 gr). Data attached.

I'm shooting a 230 eldx out of a 24" barrel 338 wsm. I have been using H4350 but have been running into pressure before I get to my desired velocity 2750+. I'll be happy with a consistent 2700, I think that should be achievable. Due to the lack of data , I've started with 338 rcm and worked up. My question is , does anyone have any suggestions for powder to use to achieve good velocity with that combo as well as temp stability. I'm particularly interested in trying some VV powder. Was looking at N565 possibly. Thanks in advance!

what velocity and accuracy are you getting now?

Can you run N555 and see it comes up with?

Still way to slow.

N550 gets there but may not be the best.

They keep chambering specs "secret" so can't model in QuickLOAD.

With the 24" barrel N570 will probably be your best bet since reloader isn't availible

Do you buy powders online or locally?
What is in your available list?

I use Midway to indicate what can be had even though I may not get it from them. I only listed if it seemed to be an improvement. Some available powders are not by QL figurin.
Hodgdon H4350
Hodgdon LVR
Reloader TS 15.5
Winchester 760

There are other powders that may work but where to get them from?
