I would say stick to bolt guns Fewer problems.
The biggest problem I can see is that in a Semi Auto platform like that you'd have way too much fun shooting and burn barrels out so fast it might leave a really bad taste in your mouth.
If I just had to have one in a Semi Auto I would not go with anything more overbore than the good old 300wm.
