W748 in the 223 Remington

I've got some 55 grain Speer bullets on the way and some W748 that I purchased a while back and would like to hear from anyone using this powder in the 223.
I have other powder's on hand but I would prefer to use this up.
The rifle is a Remington 700 and this load will be used primarily for plinking but expect good accuracy.
I have numerous loads for the rifle using other powder and bullets combinations but am interested in results using W748 with similar weight bullets.
So is it worth opening?
26.6 of 748 with 50 vmax is lights out in match rra start low and work up seating in my metal mag with no room to spare

Howdy, I have just recently started loading for 223. I was playing with Speer 55gr TNT HP. There is a lot of choices for powder, WoW , I took the easy route with Varget. But a lot of people seem to like W748. Tagging in to Learn more.
Picture is from Speer New load book.

On a separate note I m astounded that anyone ever hit anything with "temp sensitive" powder. Can you smell the sarcasm?
Yes I can smell it! lol
I'll be working this up in the next week or two so I'll assume if I don't get any pressure at 90 degrees F I'll be ok.
I guess I'll probably lose some fps when it's cooler but it's mainly just a plinking load.

Win 748... It's a good powder, but it's never worked well in my Rem 700 .223... but, then I didn't use it with the 55gr and lighter bullets, I used it with 65gr & 69gr bullets. After which I switched to H335 for the 65gr and 69gr For heavy bullets like the 80gr I use R15... the exception is 77gr I use Accurate 2520 in my AR. Ok, with all that said, if I had Win 748 I wouldn't throw it out, it also works well in ,308 Win Just my 0.2 Cheers

I'd love to shoot some heavier bullets but my twist is slow. I think it's 1:12

Thanks for all of your replies. My older Speer manual list's a starting load of 26 grains and a max of 28 grains of W748. I'm hoping something works out in the 27-28 grain range for decent velocity.
I'll give a update after my trip to the range.
Thanks again, birddog 68
