A rifle I am considering purchasing comes with one of these installed. I am trying to put a value on the rifle with this scope but I can't find any that sold through the search on this site or Google. Anyone have thoughts on a value and your thoughts on quality. Thanks

If it helps the on/off and brightness settings are on the back of the scope. Standard up/down turrets in the middle and a focus knob on the left of the turrets. They are not target turret. It has 30 mm tube.

contact Leupold and give them the serial number and you will get the mfg. date and and find out if it is factory original or counterfeit. I would not pay more than 400, and then send it to Leupold so they can check every thing only cost you shipping to them. just tell them it does not track correctly

I've had about 15 VX III scopes through the years, and have had no complaints about any of them. If there is a problem with the scope, send it to Leupold and voila, you have a brand new scope. I dropped a gun and bent the objective bell. This occurred during coyote season. I removed the scope and sent it to Leupold and had it back it ten days. That's good service. You can't go wrong with that scope.

The VX-III LR models are great scopes. I have 2 of them, zero complaints with them. They track and hold zero. As @Laser Man mentioned, you can send the scope to Leupold and they will go through the scope and clean/refresh the lenses. Should only cost you shipping.

If it's a VX3HD With the Fire Dot reticle its a $800 to $900 scope. It will have a push buttton turret with one turn and zero stop. The reticle is motion tech. It turns on when you move the gun. If none of this is on it adjust down to about $500. Both are retail price. The 30 MM tube has me thinking VX3HD.
Forget everything I said, I just saw the picture of your scope. Older model, but good one.

The scope that you have with the little crosshairs is an older scope. I have one on one of my black bear rifles; 1.5-5. It is a very dependable scope, with good clarity. The only issue I have with mine is that it takes an oddball battery that generally is not found in those endcap displays for batteries in your local hardware stores. But they are can be reasonably found online. If I needed a 4.5-14 scope I would readily offer to take this scope off of your hands

Nice scope!!! Fine for hunting rifles. Lots of used ones for sale ! I have 3.5X to 10X with an adjustable Obj. Lens, on a Model 70 Super grade in 270 Win and a 4.5X to 14X with a 30mm main tube on my 300 Weatherby Mag, and a another 4.5X to 14X on a 1 inch tube going to go on my Pre 64 Model 70 , in 300 H and H . They will be just fine (adequate ) for shooting and hunting at 100 , 200 and 300 yards . I do have other Leupold VX 5 scopes , if a swap is ever needed!!
