Vertical stringing

Is this action bedded? Is the barrel free floating? If so are the action screws tight/torqued equally?

Yeah it's been bedded and I've tried both floating the barrel and bedding a couple inches forward of the lug and both have yielded the same results. Ive shot it in two different stock and both were bedded

When you're shooting your groups are they in rapid succession with one another w/out breaking position or do you get up off the rifle after each shot to let the barrel cool?
Reason I ask is that I just finished load development w/ a .300 Win Mag also using ADG brass, Federal 215's, Berger 210's and RL26. Seems when I stay on the rifle after each shot without breaking position (prone) the load I settled on (73.1gr) prints .5 moa consistently. BUT if I get up after each shot, allow a few minutes to pass and and set up all over again I tend to throw one high or low sometimes thus ruining the group.

I've tried both and both are doing the same thing but typically I'll shoot my group without breaking position

Are you hand seating the primers ? I had one that did horizontal stringing and found that the bore wasn't in the center of the barrel it was fat on one side and thin on the other un-even expansion with heating had me scratching my head .

Using my press to seat them. You can really feel it this way

Beast brake on good and tight? I had an issue with my 5-port (2 piece) Beast working loose and throwing fliers. Blue Loctite fixed that.

Yes I've done the ocw but at 410 yards all with my magneto speed attached via wiser precision mount.
It's liked 73 gr the most. Haven't done any seating depth testing yet.

Joefrazell, what brass are you using , does it weigh the same how are the flash holes inside any burrs ,are they the same depth , are the primmer pockets uniform depth , are you just throwing the powder or are you weighing each charge ? go up just a little in powder may help this at times 10th grain at a time . How far off the lands have you tried seating the bullets they may like more or less of a jump . How do the bullets weights compare are they pretty close to the same ?Do you develop a flinch , push or pull into your stock , is your finger control changing or are you consistent with it ? some times it's something small or a combination of small things adding up . That's part of the enjoyment of shooting figuring out why it's doing what it's doing so many things to learn .

I would double check torque on everything - it may be the primers as others have noted and do a ladder test on the scope, but rail screws, scope mounts, action screws, etc... I would double check them all. Let us know what you find...

Having a problem with vertical stringing, vertical flyers. Here's what I have

Rifle is a trued rem 700 with a 26" bartlein barrel. Mbm beast brake. Hs precision stock, Timney trigger. 300 win mag

Load is adg brass, fed 215, 225 ELDM, rl26 brass has now all been fired and shoulders bumped back .002, .002 neck tension .010" off the lands

So it seems the problem is with multiple powders, bullets. My load currently is 73 gr. Is right over 2900 fps with es of around 20. Yesterday morning and this morning I shot 4 shot groups at 410 yards. 3 went into about 1.25" but had one flyer that strung vertical. It seems I've had vertical stringing issues with this rifle since the start of the new barrel. I thought it was a bedding issue but I've swapped stocks and re bed the rifle twice. I thought it could be a rear bag issue but I've tried two different bags. Tried a bipod and a front rest and still having the issue. What's everyone's thoughts? I have lost faith in the Smith for other reasons so I don't want to take it back to him. Should I have another Smith check it out? Could it be a seating depth issue? I'm at my wit's end with the rifle and don't know where to go. It wants to shoot .25 min groups most of the time but I just can't seem to get it together.

Try this. The round that is the flyer mark that case and do not use it next time. Obviously something is causing an inconsistency. Also try seating a bit deeper.

I am shooting a 700 trued, 26" 4r Bartlein, bedded in a HS stock in 300 Win Mag as well, using Reloader with Fed Mag primers have no problems shooting under MOA at 400 yards. Is it possible the sling swivel is hitting your front rest at the bench?

Are you taking to long between shots? Leaving the round chambered for to long between shots can cause verticle spread.

Pull the barrel, lightly lap the threads and reinstall at 65 ftlbs
