US forest issues kill order for feral cows in New Mexico

BTW - do you recall what horse meat tasted like?
Must be good because there was a roadside BBQ place near Stillwater OK that sold out every weekend for years. Finally got snagged with no license for business or selling food, no inspections, that kind of thing. They tested his meat and found it was horse. He had been buying up old broke down race horses and selling them off as BBQ. A lot of his former customers were still sad he had been shut down even after they found out.

Well the "sharpshooters" killed 19 feral cattle. Whoopee! What a fiasco! I wonder how many could have been killed by hunters.

Dang! What an opportunity to do bullet testing!!!

You wanna do bullet testing……take a trip to Australia and shoot donkeys! I have a friend that's been twice (that I know of)…..60+ Donnie's and some other stuf in a week or so of shooting!

I suspect that a lot could be learned about bullet integrity with a shoulder shot or a "steep angle" shot on a few dozen donkeys! 😉 memtb

None. That's the reason they are there because now one has done anything in 40 yrs. Those cattle have been free for the taking or shooting. They wasn't many left so hopefully they got most of them. I know they had bad weather that might have affected flight time

Before they started gathering and killing them last year, you could ride down the Gila River in that area and see 30-50 head any day. The reason for the lawsuit from the Center for Biological Diversity is because the cattle were over grazing the bottom of the river and bothering the hikers on the Continental Trail.
They were considered property of the NM Livestock Board until the FS deemed them an Invasive Species with their Decision Letter. Just like game laws 99% of people follow the law and they were not shot.
Anybody who was half a hunter could have shot a 100 easy in 5 days. If you could shoot a 1000 to 1500 yards you could have done a bunch of bullet testing at those yardages.
So to answer the question about how many hunters could have killed.
Everyone of them.
