I just got one for my birthday , first time I used it I didn't rinse stainless media , brass did not come out real shiny ? Well today rinsed the media really well before using did 75 lupua 308 brass came out fine , 15 Remington. Ultra mag brass are more dull or tarnished looking ? Am I doing something wrong or will it get better over time , I am using lemon shine and dawn dish soap . Any help would be great full

Thanks SRlightbulb

The media shouldn't need any extra rinsing after you rinse out the dirty soapy water.

How long are you running it? I know if I don't run mine at least 45 minutes they won't be very shiny. Also make sure you use at least 2 table spoons of dish soap (I use about 2 1/2) and 1/4 teaspoon of Lemi shine. If you want gold colored brass just add extra Lemi shine.

I forgot the soap one time and the brass came out looking worse than when I put it in. Very tarnished with some dark black spots.

Yep, I put brass in. Fill with water to about 1" from top. Add 2 tablespoons of Dawn dish soap and 1/4 teaspoon of lemishine. Then run for 4 hours. If the brass is bad nasty run for 5 hrs.

Ok I will run them longer lemon shine and soap I am ok I see , only filling half way with water , so I will fill just below top , thanks guys :)

I have used this method for a few years now. Would not use anything else. Here are a few tip from experience.

1. Run a minimum of three hours for shiny brass and cleaned primer pockets
2. Use Luke warm or cold water.
3. Do not use to much detergent it will leave a film, one to two drops of Dawn is sufficient.
4. More is NOT better when using Lemishine, 1/4 teaspoon is plenty. More will cause dulling as brass sits.

This is a great system but takes a little trial and error for perfect results.

I start with water as hot as I can from the tap, as it cools to room temp anyway over time. I do find that I have to rinse the brass quite a bit to avoid dulling or leaving a film, so I'll try using a bit less soap like you mention.

I rinse first several times with hot water, then finish with a couple of cold rinses. Brass is dried right away with compressed air, then sits in front of a fan for several hours. No problems with dulling or discoloration doing it this way.

Where are you guys buying this? I have seen it before in a few catalogs. I think it is $229 in Sinclair's.

Midway just had them on sale it cost right at 200.00 for the complete kit + shipping thanks guys for the tips

Birddog67, fill it close to the top with water, add the mix of dawn and lemishine we discussed earlier and run it for 4 to 5 hours. Then let us know what you think.

Jeff

Will do ,I will post back with results , it's just strange that the the lapua brass came out cleaner than the Remington 300 ultra brass ? I will shoot more this weekend and post back results .gun)
