Trying to Decide on a new LR hunting gun

If your heart isn't set entirely on a custom rifle, Check out the sauer 100 classic 6.5 prc. I believe it's got a 5 shot sub moa guarantee, tons of great features that folks pay big money for with a custom. The palm swell on their wood stock is ideal. I've seen them in the 800-900 range. Definitely worth looking at and as someone else mentioned use the extra dough for glass and ammo. Best wishes

Karl built a 300 WBY for me on a 700 action with a #3 Bartlein bbl that is a very nice shooting rifle. I have taken many elk, deer, and antelope with it and consider it my go to setup for all around hunts. He has also finished, coated, fluted bolts/barrels, and rebarreled many others for me over the years. He has been very attentive and done a nice job.

I would have him build another rifle for me, no questions asked. I would probably use a custom action like a Defiance or similar but that is simply due to my taste now, than when I had the WBY built.

OK, to eliminate the suspense - Having Karl Kampfeld build me a 6.5PRC on a Stiller action, 24" Broughton #4.1 fluted barrel, McMillan Hunter cerakoted composite stock, Trigger Tech trigger at 2 1/2# with Zeiss HD5 3-15X50mm on Talley steel rings.

Some pics of my Kampfeld custom 300 RUM....built on Rem. action..
