Although not pertinent to those that reload for everything, but does anyone have an idea of what kind of variances factory ammo has?
The basic stuff I've checked varies a lot just from shot to shot, so temp would hard variable to check without large sample. Federal premium and the like not so bad.
Only ammo I've monitored closely for temp fluctuations is hornady 6.5 creedmoor ammo. It's good enough I don't bother reloading. It seems very stable across the board.
Without thorough testing, seems the wsm ammo I used a few years back had ball powder (likely mag pro) that was consistent at a given temp, so accurate, but changed a good 100 Fps from cold to hot. I dropped that as hunting load so I never got a lot of data.
Good bet that any ball powder load will do that (but, as noted in prior post, sometimes a particular load, for unknown reasons, defies the conventional wisdom).
