You can use a little Ronson lighter fluid from time to time to keep it clean but no oil of any kind.

All my personal and guide rifles get pretty dusty in South Texas.....I run lighter fluid through all of them at the end of the season and sometimes mid season if dust is unusually bad! Been doing this as long as I can remember!
