Took a younger aoudad ram with the 7mm saw at 100 yards. Im thinking my 7mm prc may not be worth it now.

Way too many options for this years deer / aoudad season. Most shots will be from stand or up too 300 yards. What would you choose ? Love hearing peoples opinions and storys. Most of my animals have been with my 20" 308 over the last three years. And have taken several others with a 22-250 or 270.

You huntin' aoudad near Llano or out west? Llano = .308 Win, 7 PRC, 30-06, 270 Win, 264 WM, blah, blah, blah, even 6.5 Needmor. Near Llano be prepared for them to fall down into a TX Hill Country granite crevice that prevents retrieval without mountain climbing gear. The most amazing aoudad I ever saw was a big ram running down a 500' x 70 degree vertical face south of Llano after the wind suddenly switched to my back and I was 500 yards away. The granite slabs were at least 50 yards apart and he never missed a step. Astounding! You get the picture. West TX mountains warrants WSM's (not the 7 unless its a 7-300), 300 WM, 7 PRC. IMO.

I love the Llano Estacado, and pretty much all of Texas (except the cities), in the not-summer season. Summer anywhere in Texas is like livin' on hell's door step. Seems the further south you go, the closer you get to the door. My experience killing aoudad is just south of the once upon a time sleepy little town of Llano. Beautiful place to be during Texas' 4 month long deer season.

Except for varmint "shooting" or shooting hundreds of rounds at paper or steel……simplify your life! Go with one rifle/cartridge/bullet for all of your hunting needs!
