Tikka T3 fluted

G'Day all,

I'm tossing up between a CZ 550 and Tikka T3 at the moment but something that i can't work out about the Tikka is both the standard barrel and fluted barrel are listed at 3.1Kg?

Does the fluted barrel have a heavier contour or something?

Right now the Tikka has a bigger aftermarket for any mods you would want to make. Just a thought.

Isn't the fluted barrel only offered on one of the wood stock models? That may be the reason.

The Tikka is a fine rifle. I had a Sako 22-250 Finnlite which has a fluted bbl. and after 3 consecutive shots groups would start walking to the right due to bbl. heating up. I was useing it to shoot GH's and 3 consecutive shots was not uncommon so I sold it and got the heavy bbl. varmint. I don't know what caliber you are getting or what you want to shoot but if multipul shots are needed I would not get a fluted bbl..
