Tikka T3 243- 87 grn vmax loads

Looking for some loads for a 243 T3 and 87grn vmax. Anybody wanna share some?

hodgdon hybrid 100V 26 barrel cci 200 and cci 34 primers 87grn vmax.

45.5 gr 3312 fps avg
45.9 gr 3382 fps avg

I also did testing with aa2700, r-19 Ramshot hunter, and aa3100

My load for the Hornady V-Max in my 243 Win. is. BRASS Winchester, PRIMER Winchester LR standard, POWDER IMR 4350 42.0 (Fourty Two Gr.), BULLET Hornady 87 Gr. V-Max. OACL 2.740. Load is .7 gr below max from 1967 Hornady Book. Will shoot less than .5 inch at 100 if I do my part.

Winchester brass, fed 210 primer, 43gr imr4350, 87 vmax, .015 off the lans. 3100 fps out of a 26" 1 - 9.125" twist factory Remington varmint barrel. Consistent .5 or better moa.

If you want to try a heavier bullet, my Tikka T3 loves the 95gr Nosler Ballistic Tip loaded with 44.0gr of Hybrid 100V. 0.5" groups at 3140fps at 2.71" OAL. It also likes the 100gr Hornady BTSP and Nosler Partition with the same charge but seated a little deeper (OAL is 2.65") both are at or just under 3100fps

Many of the European made rifles have a real steep twist. They use some real heavy for bore bullets. My 243 Win. is an old Sako Forester. It likes 85 gr. above. With a 105 Gr. Speer bullet and H4831 will shoot one ragged hole at 100 yds. It shoots 70 gr. bullets I have like a shotgun pattern instead of a rifle group. Good Luck in finding the combo your rifle likes.

Tikka T3 .243, 22" barrel
87 gr. Hornady Vmax, Nosler Brass, Fed 210 match primer, 50.4 gr VihtaVouri N560 powder, seated .030" into the rifling.
3382 average fps, on 3 different chronographs, multiple occasions.

1/4-3/4 moa groups, tends to shoot tighter the colder the ambient temp gets

Have you guys found the best accuracy with these bullets seated right off the lands or do they like a little jump? I measured and they are touching the lands right at 2.700". I was thinking of starting them at 2.670-2.680".

I found the best accuracy seated hard into the lands, I think .030" into the rifling. I backed them off last year to where they are just short of the rifling because if I hunted really cold temps and fired a shot and loaded another round the barrel would cool down onto the bullet and when I would go to empty the chamber I would have a case and powder come flying out but the bullet would be stuck in the bore.

Doing this the gun went from a 1/4-3/4" gun to a 3/4- 1 1/2" gun at 100 yards, still very capable for a hunting gun.
