Tikka long action?

Rem 700 "build",.. Action and Magazine,..$500 IF, lucky, True action and Bolt, $250-$350, Barrel $325, Labor to install bbl. $350, Trigger $140 for Timney, Stock $400 for H-S precision OR,.. MORE, for a McMillan etc.,
So about, $2,000 Minimum,.. vs a Tikka,.. $600-$750 for Rifle + $100 for "upgrade goodies" ! About, $1,200+ in SAVINGS that, could be used for, Scope and Mt's and,.. an out of state Tag ???
I built all mine for under $1,200 each... Your fluffing prices to push an opinion. Let's be honest instead of biased.

I really like the Tikka action. They're straight to begin with, side bolt release, excellent trigger and very smooth .

Due to the mag length I think they're best suited to short action and WSM/SAUM cartridges if you want to seat heavy bullets long .

But yeah I've only seen complete rifles, not Tikka actions for sale. Funny when Tikkas' first were selling here they were the "economy" brand of Sako. That's what I remember of them. Another route IMO to go is Howa barreled actions or rifles. Their actions are supposed to be close to "blueprinted" from the factory. Merry Christmas!

Did you do the smithing? At my old company, we would charge at minimum $1000 for labor on a customer parts provided build. That's blueprinting, threading, chambering, barreling and bedding with a trigger tune. Our average build was 2700 on a remmy Short action.
If you did do the smithing, taking your level of ability into consideration, what would you value your time and knowledge to be?

My last rifle, built by Robert Gradous, exceeded your build cost in parts alone.

If you're looking for a T3 action, its easiest to cruise the forums, armslist or even local shops for a used rifle at a cheap price. My last T3 was bought for a song and is getting rebarreled. The action itself is machined well and square from Tikka. The parts that I stripped either went to the trash bin or were given away. I found a magnum bolt on line for under 200 and with a little cleaning and polishing, it looks brand new. The other great thing about the T3 is that they're all long actions and the bolt stop/release determines bolt draw. Easy swap with a punch and a replacement or a well aimed file. The trigger is one of the finest factory offerings I have ever used, but you can get a Jard or Timney if preferred.
The number of fantastic prefit barrels offered in great chamberings is phenomenal. Have barrel nut, will travel!
Some shooters prefer to have the shoulder cut down to allow for standard diameter shanks to be used, but it's not crucial.
Tikka is quickly winning over remmy lovers for good reason. It's just better.

Either way, build what you like, good luck and go shoot!

That's exactly what I said but calling it a trued action and it being trued are two different things and that is not trued.

@ Mudrunner,.. You AIN'T building, an "accurate" TRUED, Rem 700 for under, $2,200. unless, you did it,.. yourself or did it,..30 years ago ! I'm no Genius, but I can, "add" up, PRESENT Day COSTS and found the "Tikka way" to be, MUCH,.. cheaper ! That's why I own, 2 of them and WHY, I still HAVE,.. an older, Factory "stock" Rem 700 that, I shoot, "as is"! PS,.. I am shooting, from 1/4 to 1/2 MOA, 3 shot groups with, Hand Loads from my Factory "Stock" (with less than $100 in "Mod's") out of, my T3, Tikka .243 Win. using, the FACTORY Trigger with, a $19.00 YoDave Spring, set at, a CRISP, 1 Pound pull.
Apparently, you have never shot, a Tikka,.. have you ?? Why, "run down" something that, YOU say that,.. you have very little, knowledge of ?
