I just swapped the barrel on my tikka rifle. It came as a 7mm rem mag but was too slow for my taste. 2800 fps using 162gr Hornady SST bullets.
I came across a new takeoff 6.5 PRC barrel at a very good price on eBay and had a CTR stock laying around so I decided to give it a try.
Taking off the old barrel was not very easy since they come really tight but after a few attempts it came off.
I installed the new barrel, threw it on the ctr stock using the old 7mm rem mag magazine so I could seat the bullets really long and it worked like a charm.
Just tried the first loads and it looks very promising.
Hornady ELD-X 143gr over 57gr RL-26 @3050 fps 0.44 MOA
Hornady ELD-X 143gr over 58gr RL-26 @3080 fps 0.88 MOA
Berger VLD target 140gr over 59gr RL-26 @3100 fps 0.64 MOA
BARNES LRX 127gr over 58gr RL-26 unknown MV looks promising, I felt like I pulled 1 shot ruining the group.
